Concrete barriers are temporary. Reminder that they still have to do streetscaping at both ends of 107 Street next year.
Security is likely temporary during the week of programming. There will be an attendant at the pavilion all hours that it is open. Every second person that talks to them asks about what they're doing to do about open drug use. They have been given instructions to call the police if there's any issues.

Looks like some moderate grading work will need to be done to tie in the park edge with the alleyway. Not sure if that can happen over winter, meaning these barrier may remain until the spring.

11:15 am today the playground was full. Who knew a downtown playground would bring people and families to city centre, ha. And as I was riding away, another two families of 8 people (very young kids) were just arriving. Already, a need to have a bigger playground area is becoming evident.
So far, the most popular features:
1. The playground.
2. The swings under the light feature (great spot to sit, chill and soak up downtown skyline).
3. The dog park.
4. The fire pit/pavillion area.
I think in summer, the large grass area will be well used, too.

Yes the whole park was full this afternoon, nice to see. There were also peace officers on patrol. One observation: I underestimated how nice it is to have grass downtown. I don't remember when Churchill used to have it, but whether it's for pets, kids playing soccer, or just lying down and relaxing, having a public park with ample grass is really key to enjoyment. It'll be a huge draw.

I stopped by the park AGAIN on my way home at 415pm and it was busiest I've seen. All three basketball courts being used, people in fitness area, playground busy and the grass field had kids playing soccer and all but one of the swings was being used.
So nice to have people downtown just hanging out outside.

And just imagine, it's probably going to keep getting busier as we get more residents and foot traffic around the area.

Park was still packed at 5 PM at dusk. Lots of kids around and lots of people sitting on the swings under the strawberry aurora aura was lit up. Looks really cool at ground level. The swings are definitely a hit.
