Awesome info, thank you for sharing.it was discussed at a high level but only really, really briefly. the alignment from churchill was fixed as was the alignment under 105 avenue and that pretty much set the geometry through/under station lands. that geometry as well as the previously fixed station lands and epcor tower components precluded the ability to widen the tunnel enough for a station. the track at that point is at least 65 feet below the main floor elevation for station lands so vertical circulation and exiting and firefighting and hvac etc. would all have been equally problematic physically, legally and financially…
Would you mind shedding a bit of light on the whole process for how Station Lands/EPCOR tower RFP/Metro Line all came together back in the day? From the outside looking in it sure looked like some incredible coordination but all parties and overall some brilliant planning.
