Face Covering Bylaw (Bylaw 19408) Survey:
The Mask Bylaw Survey seeks Edmontonians’ perspectives about the City’s existing Bylaw 19408 in light of the ending of the provincial mandatory masking requirement effective March 1. The survey runs until March 7. The results of the survey will be used to inform Council members in their review of the Bylaw at a date yet to be determined.

i'll disagree on the "potential loss of business". there were places of business we were prepared to go based on the restrictions and the masking that we are no longer prepared to go to.

i will agree on the "confusion".

i will also disagree as to who will be to blame for the confusion. it's the province that controls the timing and it's the province that had an ability to set up a framework for the relaxation and imposition of restrictions that everyone would be able to rely on and that wouldn't be arbitrary.

you know, something like this perhaps:

agreed, not that that should be surprising.

from the beginning all of the province’s responses and rhetoric and messaging has been political and driven at the party level, not medical or health driven.

Edmonton ends masking in public spaces​

March 8, 2022

Edmonton City Council voted to repeal the Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings bylaw (Bylaw 19408) during a special Council meeting this afternoon.

Effective immediately, masks are now only mandatory in settings as required by theGovernment of Alberta. These locations include public transit, AHS-operated and contracted facilities, and all continuing care settings.

The City encourages Edmontonians to be kind to one another and respect people’s personal decisions around mask wearing.

Alberta opioid deaths reach all-time high, with 179 in April

Opioid deaths in Alberta are up 6.4 per cent through the first four months of 2023 versus the same time period last year.

Typical trash article from the Herald attempting to bash YEG with our supposed "higher oipiod death rates," than their city. But to interpret their reporting: YYC had 40% of 179 deaths = 72. YEG had 1 in 3 deaths = 59 deaths. So it is obvious to a layman that "1 in 3" sounds more heinous than "40%." Why else would they spin it that way?
