I like - I imagine the community will kick and scream like they did with Hendrix though.

Sales centre presumably for this tower:

Tower after tower: New Edmonton condo proposed for Oliver
Oliver may soon get taller — the latest community to potentially see a growth spurt as Edmonton sees new tower proposals left and right.

Edmonton is holding an open house next week to get public feedback on rezoning land to make way for a 30-storey tower, located at 9918 111 Street near the Grandin LRT station.

The current rules only allow four stories on that spot, which is currently home to some houses.

Proposed rezoning of properties in Oliver
March 30, 2017

You are invited to a Public Open House to discuss a proposed rezoning in Oliver for properties at:
9918, 9922 & 9930 - 111 Street NW.

Date: Thursday, April 6, 2017
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (Drop-in, no scheduled presentation)
Location: Oliver School (10227 - 118 Street NW, Edmonton)

The proposed rezoning would accommodate a high-rise residential building. The proposed change in zoning is from a (DC1) Direct Development Control Provision to a (DC2) Site Specific Development Control Provision. The proposed tower includes:
  • Height of 90.0 metres (approximately 30 storeys)
  • Floor Area Ratio of 15.0
  • 173 Dwellings
  • Underground parking
An amendment to the Oliver Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) is also proposed because current policy does not support development of this scale at this location.

The City is looking for your input on this proposal.

I imagine this goes through easier than Hendrix did as it is further back from blocking views and such. Awesome to see so much new stock coming online after such a long drought though!
