Two months since we last checked in at the site of the Augustana Church Redevelopment in downtown Edmonton, and the build site has truly begun to blossom. Known now simply as "Augustana," the recently revamped 30-storey tower by Pangman Development Corp and DIALOG, has started to make real progress, climbing ever higher towards the surface.

Located just west of the core, at 9901 107 St NW, the 230-unit Augustana will place its 350 residents within easy walking distance to Jasper Ave, and thus to Corona Station to the north, and the Alberta Legislature to the south. Billed as a rental tower, Augustana will fill a much needed void in Edmonton's residential real estate market.

The revamp has seen the tower adopt a beige-yellow hue reminiscent of the old church which the tower has replaced. Once the site of the Augustana Lutheran Church, the site will now be the permanent residence for hundreds, thereby bringing an around the clock pedestrian vibrancy to the downtown-adjacent neighbourhood.

The three-storey podium will meet the street with a floor of ground-level retail, the upper two levels to be split between various building amenities and residential space. Once complete, Augustana will be a welcome addition to the area, the neighbourhoods close to the Legislature having lately become a hotbed of redevelopment.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
