Just a month since our last update, and a small batch of new renderings for what is now being branded as "Augustana," has revealed a somewhat smoother new look for the tower than originally seen. Spandrel heavy and topped off with a rooftop deck, Augustana's subtle revamp has caught the eye of several readers on our Forum, leading many to suggest that the latest images represent a significant improvement.

Viewed above, the newly revealed rooftop deck appears to be connected to an indoor dining lounge, though few details remain as to its scope. Set to be clad in a mix of beige and off-white spandrel, Augustana appears - whether intentionally or not - to have carried forward the colour scheme of the church that it replaced.

Seen in full, Augustana is more or less composed similarly to before, albeit the added detail included in the latest renderings serve to highlight the soft tones that will form the majority of the 30-storey tower's exterior. The tower will meet the street with a three-storey podium level, which will be grounded with street-facing retail.

Viewed above, the recent appearance of the crane has led to the steady rise of the core, it now being a matter of a few months before we start to see this project break above ground. Located at 107 St NW and 99 Ave NW, close to downtown, the former site of the Augustana Lutheran Church will soon become home to roughly 230 rental apartments, thus bringing an additional 300+ new residents into the area.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
