Today's Throwback Thursday takes a look back at the former site of the 1953-built Augustana Lutheran Church, which long stood on the NE corner of 107 St NW and 99 Ave NW in downtown Edmonton. Today the future site of the Augustana Church Redevelopment project, which will replace the old church with a 30-storey apartment tower, the new development will serve the needs of a rapidly evolving urban population.

Captured back in 2016, the view looking north from 107 St NW and 99 Ave NW is remarkably different today than it was then, the now long-demolished church having been converted into an active construction site.

Soon to be home to more than 200 apartment units and thus up to 300 residents, the DIALOG-designed high-rise will also bring an influx of ground-floor retail to the corner, thereby adding to the pedestrian vibrancy of the neighbourhood.
