Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

I would just close the intersection entirely, and build a pedestrian bridge over the Yellowhead. Fort Road and 50 street already provide enough vehicular access to the area.

I don't think there needs to be another active transportation connection here. There's already a SUP along the LRT line.

It's part of the YHT active transportation corridor which runs largely on the south side of YHT from 142 St to 50 St, except for the short section between Fort Road where it crosses over to the north side of YHT via 125 Ave. If they don't want to build the 66 St connection at this time (missing link in solid red), they should retain the south sidewalk between Fort Rd and 66 St, convert it to a shared use path, and add a way for people to cross Fort Road at YHT maybe with a pedestrian signal (dashed below)

When vehicles have the option of Fort Road or 50 Street to access the Yellowhead or points on the other side of the road, I don’t think there’s much of an inconvenience. Fort Road has been expanded under the CN bridge.
