Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

Am I the only one who's surprised that a weed shop didn't buy this site to use for their flagship store? 🚬

Pretty low effort as a park, even by Edmonton standards.. Can't see it getting much use.

Wait what?! You're got it all wrong. Who said anything about a "park?" Not as in "where you take your dog to run around or fly a kite or throw a frisbee. This is loose term for a park, as in a memorial to meat packing industry of the area. Btw, it's been around for at least 5 years as it was built at the same time as the new Andrews transit garage. So to me, it is a pretty unique and special "park" to have in our city.

Some of the eastern stretches of the Whitemud were landscaped back in the 90's. It's almost scenic driving through there today and bonus is that the vegetation muffles a lot of road noise.

Yup, the other side of 127th, out of camera, is already dug all the way down, I believe with a waterproofing membrane installed too. Massive hole!
 
Wonder if they will keep the inside lane of the newly upgraded EB Yellowhead blocked off until the work at 127 Street is mostly complete to avoid having a merge bottleneck. It actually flows pretty well with just the two lanes most of the time. Maybe they'll just increase the speed marginally?

Full disclosure, that's not an official name. I visited the park when it first opened and took some shots, and decided to put it on google maps. I couldn't find any actual name for it, so I just went with the historic term for the area. As for why I called it a park, don't judge too harshly please; I'm just an amateur :p

WB from St Albert Trail is now fully open with a 80 km/hr speed limit.
EB is still reduced to 2 lanes from 156 St to 124 St but maybe that ends soon once past the St Albert Trail interchange.
Both EB and WB still have 2 lane reductions between 89 St and 107 St but I have no idea what work is involved.
Ditto for Fort Road WB from 66 St to near the Yellowhead exit.

Oh, the limit’s only 80? ….Whoops… Anyways, I drove it last night, and noticed that they also raised the limit to 90 east of the 156 Street overpass too. No highway signage installed yet, however. Paving is nicely done. Even at 130 it felt smooth as butter
