Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

The homeless sure do "love their trash piles." Create a trash pile out of nothing and then leave it there when they move looking to hunker down for their next "hit."

I know, but I'm thinking these kinds of things like garbage and picking up after themselves would not be top of mind when you are exhausted, weak, hungry, several intoxicated and so on. It is deflating to see and smell the decay in various areas of the downtown though as a result - which of course is a reflection of the amount of struggles out there.

That said, as I was going into a downtown apartment with my bike earlier this week, a guy in rough shape sitting on the ground by the entrance proceeds to get up as I'm trying to maneuvre my bike in and holds the door open for me and then headed off somewhere else.

From tonight:
I believe this is the longest span on the project

Car vs. train at 36A Ave when the train was Southbound. Damage to car 2016 appears to be limited to 2-3 panels on the front of the car. I guess to help keep things moving, instead of wrong way running Northbound to crossover at Whitemud to return to the shops, they ran the train into Mill Woods and the back to the shops.
Slow trip from Downtown but we generally kept moving and our motorperson kept us well informed.
Pretty heavy load, granted it was a single car train, but it was a lot more passengers than a few days ago so K Days is certainly bring ridership to the Valley Line. Still people, judging from overhearing multiple different people, that are out there just riding the Valley Line for the first time just to see what it's like.

Did it carry passengers all the way to Mill Woods, or empty they it out and deadhead?

Empty deadhead I would imagine, but cannot confirm. They seemed to deadhead a train out of Mill Woods, probably to help get service back to normal. I was surprised we were held at Grey Nuns which happens when 2 trains are at Mill Woods. Saw one heading North out of service, looked for damage on that one, nothing, and then found the damage train leaving Mill Woods as I arrived.

Are the Taste of Edmonton organizers and the City still operating under some misguided delusion that LRT users are of a lower level than those who drive, walk or bike?
I’m guessing it could be a choke point if there was A Taste of Edmonton entrance near the LRT station.

At least major events like K-Days and A Taste of Edmonton are a chance to introduce new riders to the LRT.

True, but how many of them would never ride the LRT again because of little things such as a closed-off Churchill Connector?
