@Daveography Well, that doesn't mean that there won't be new development in the general area because of the station.

@Freedm You never know, things like that can change over time. I bet most people back in the day thought that the downtown train yard would never move, but it did ?

It will probably be commercial / retail.

Also don't forget that the site is within the Mill Creek ravine area. If the daylighting project goes ahead in the future, they will be digging everything up.

To bring the creek back to near its natural course, rather than to outfall via a sewer. 1 of the concepts prepared:

But since it is more ready than other projects, it might be a good fit for 'stimulus'.

There are actually two sections of Mill Creek that are part of the daylighting project - the outfall at Muttart, but also the culverted portion under Argyll. I was referring to the latter:

Edmonton planners are hoping LRT-related development around Davies Station will finally give the city cause to uncover at least parts of Mill Creek. The stream was buried in the Argyll tunnel in 1966 and now runs under the Osman Auction and CN Rail line, not surfacing until the Mill Creek Ravine...

I doubt any stimulus package will include daylighting works though.

Had to double check if today is Saturday (isn't everyone, really?) b/c construction on Valley Line at Churchill Square and the Jasper Ave New Vision on 100-97 st is full steam ahead (no reduction in crew from what I can see). There is never action on these sites during the weekends. Makes me wonder if tomorrow will see activity as well. This is great news on many fronts!
