I love how some people are advocating for the most stupid of society. One person responded say that one of the reasons why Europeans don't need the crossing arms is because they are better educated, lol.
No right hand turn sign at this intersection that people constantly ignore. If you stop for it, you're more likely to get honked at by all the people that usually just ignore it.
Honestly it’s a fact if life when you don’t choose to grade separate LRV infrastructure from the hundreds of thousands of daily vehicle crossings it will see.How is that even possible.
I wasn’t aware of this until very recently but it appears the Ottawa system is going to be fully grade separated.Honestly it’s a fact if life when you don’t choose to grade separate LRV infrastructure from the hundreds of thousands of daily vehicle crossings it will see.
Some cities get it, some don’t.
Only because their BRT Transitway was already nearly all grade-separated, so it was easy to just replace the bus lanes with LRT.I wasn’t aware of this until very recently but it appears the Ottawa system is going to be fully grade separated.
I saw they replaced the fixed no right turn on red signs with electronic no right turn signs at Gateway Blvd and Whyte Ave and it was pretty effective at stopping cars from turning right during the pedestrian crossing phase. Perhaps these need to go up all along LRT in addition to the double red light.I think it's sad that ETS gets the blame when there are turn signals, signs not to turn at a red light and track warnings. Why not blame the city for jaywalkers who get hit too?
Very true indeed that much of it is converted BRT ROW. Still shows they had the foresight to grade separate that and continue with it.Only because their BRT Transitway was already nearly all grade-separated, so it was easy to just replace the bus lanes with LRT.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.Fun fact, If you ignore traffic control and drive on an active rail line your odds of getting hit by a train go way up.
The LRVs are massive and the whole right of way is full of traffic signals, it's not like it's easy to miss.
