The Edmonton Elks - CFL

I suppose it's one way to ensure that some of the current league records will never get broken.

Having said that, other than enshrining existing records, I'm not sure this will really be as good for the Canadian game itself as the announcement makes it out to be. I'm okay with the rouge rule change and maybe even with moving the goal posts but I'm not sold that shortening the field will have the effect they want.

4 pillars according to most are:

Three Downs
12 Players
The Final Three Minutes
Canadian Content

Those are mine too.

If they choose to go to 4 downs, I'm out as a CFL watcher, and I have been one for years(since I was 5).

Would be a sad day for CFL fans if they move away from 3 downs.

The ownership of the Edmonton Elks franchise will remain with Deb Thompson, who is steadfast in her dedication to carry on Larry’s vision to revive the Double E as a pillar in the Edmonton sports scene and a leader in the community.

“Our family is devastated with the loss of our anchor,” Deb Thompson said. “Larry was a legend and our family will continue his legacy far beyond our lifetimes. Owning EE was a life long dream, my only regret is he isn’t here to enjoy it. I will continue to support the club and community as it has become my dream as well as of our family.”

Looks like there will be 30,000+ today. Unfortunately a lot of Riders fans, but hopefully the Elks faithful show up and are loud. Playoffs are a bit of a longshot, but Toronto lost yesterday so the crossover is still in play. WPG plays Hamilton today and are 4 pts. up on the Elks. A WPG loss and EDM win would set up a very interesting game between the two on Oct. 11 as both teams have a bye next week.

What a finish, but come on Elks... you almost did it AGAIN!

Great to see the place packed* though.
