First wave of films announced!

With over 140 films, tons of Q&As, and some very special surprises, EIFF is bringing you an EIFF Altering experience!

Check out EIFF's Eventive portal now for a peek at all of our short films, along with a selection of features and Q&As we're excited to be sharing!

Check out our Opening Night Gala: SINGHS IN THE RING, back at Landmark Cinemas 9 City Centre! Be sure to get the details on BIF NAKED, our screening with a special Q&A and live performance! Or check out a couple of homegrown Q&As, BUFFET INFINITY and LAST STOP VIDEO RENTALS!

That's just a peek at what's to come! Our second wave of film announcements–including our Closing Night Gala– arrives September 2, tickets for all screenings on sale Friday, September 5 at 10:00am.

Looks like the reception to the festival is strong this year with a bunch of encores and sold out opening/closing events.

Here's hoping this drives a bunch of traffic to Garneau and the Downtown.

My only issue is that the overall vibe continues to underwhelm pre/post films and it would be great to really have more destination places after to go for folks to connect about the film or enjoy a 'film crowd'.

Nice to see day #1 of lunchbox shorts SOLD OUT.

Four solid shorts and a delicious lunch from the Italian Centre.

*Only gripe is that ECC's only down escalator servicing the theatre is blocked off forcing everyone to wait for the slow elevators. Maintenance happens, but it made EIFF feel a little less of an event/priority for the facility. Come on now.

Been out of service for a long while. Myself and others just walked down when I was at a movie a few weeks ago - like it often is at loblaws in ice district where you have to walk down.

With this level of incompetence, I'm hoping ECC loses the EIFF in favor of other theatres (Metro, Roxy, RAM, etc).

^They did... it's back at ECC and Metro.

No signage or consideration it seems.

Another sold out lunchbox shorts today.

It's been interesting to observe the demographic this year.

1. Much older than previous years.
2. Far fewer obvious 'downtown workers'.
3. Very few under 35.

Anyone attend?

Today was the last day of shorts with a bunch of bangers, however...

I continue to find the overall excitement and atmosphere around the event lacking.

Tuesday had AV issues.

Today the last film was not even shown due to it 'not being available/loaded'.

Today when Kerrie was introducing the one, single short director from the UK she didn't even know his name leading to an awkward intro.

I recognize things happen and while I love this event and just wish it delivered at a higher level.
