I really enjoyed this area over the weekend. It was very busy! You really had to watch for bikes too. So many people using bike lanes! It's day and night compared to what it used to be prior to the neighbourhood renewal project!

Nostalgia moment -- first frame in the Photos above -- the little two-storey building sandwiched between the three and four storey buildings on either side used to be Strathcona TV (ground floor); our first offices for Powell-Blackburn Design Ltd. were located at the back of the building on the second floor. Does my heart good to see the area improving so. I love the super-graphics and the alley re-purposing as a pedestrian way. As we grew we eventually took over the entire second floor and then, later, moved to Spruce Woods Office Park on 51st Avenue. One should always honor their roots.

What is the purpose of retaining vehicle access on 83 Ave there?

I'd assume to access the waste enclosures behind El Cortez and provide loading access to the west side of the Crawford Block Annex.

Looking at that last photo, does anyone know what is going on with Have Mercy? It has been closed since the start of the pandemic and was a great spot and would be even better to have that activated here along with El Cortez and the new streetscape.
