Stony Plain Road

I hope the LRT eventually brings revitalization to this area and some nice newer buildings. but our prolonged bouts of LRT construction seem to almost kill off the areas before they can be revived.

Don't blame the city for this one, blame the one who burnt this place down.
Actually whoever burnt it down may have actually done us a favour - they did what the city and the province didn't or couldn't and got rid of this long time problematic property.

I realize it takes time to deal with things, so not as upset about the immediate removal of the debris, but I sure hope it happens much faster than all the foot dragging for the last several years by our governments and the owners.

I just happened so to go by this today. There's fencing but only by Stony Plain Road. The north elevation is wide open.

A part of me wonders if it was done on purpose through deliberate negligence. I know it's long been abandoned since the other fire back in 2019, so it being insurance fraud holds little weight. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if someone decided to leave it open to people to come in, left some alcohol and a trash can, and make it very easy to start a fire. In a way, it's to put a thumb on the scale to make a cheaper but riskier method of demolition. Perhaps that's also what happened to Hangar 11.

I don't know if its deliberate or not, but at some point it seems owners of long empty properties sometimes stop paying enough attention to them.

AHS said it was secure in early 2025, but were there any inspections after that? In any event, there sure seem to be a lot of fires in older run down or abandoned buildings these days.
