Good because Smitty announced this in last year's budget.....so it's been a year now + break ground in the fall let's say - that's 18 months to design a hospital. Btw, didn't @Airboy already get a glimpse of what it looks like or will look like? "Similar to the Kaye Clinic" were his words......
 
You would think if things were really coming along with this project the government would be saying so and try take some credit, rather than being fairly silent.

Just the word from some contacts at AHS. Size wise its going to be big. I was told it would mirror Kaye. But Until I see renderings. I'll hold off anymore. Have not heard it go out for RFPs yet.

From what I can decipher the money will go to mostly rural hospitals, Strathcona Hospital does get an expansion though. And nothing major for the Urban hospitals in Edmonton that hasn't already been announced. There is some for Misericordia but that is to renovate more of the tower. Again has been announced.

Saw money for La Crete Health but that was planned a long time ago and was supposed to be awarded already but only one proposal came through.

I am really having trouble following the logic of the article. First, Braid admits Calgary got money for its arena while Edmonton didn't.

Then he seems to feel it is "unfair the province is paying to tear down the old Coliseum in Edmonton, for reasons not clear (maybe because it was not done sooner) and then says Calgary will also get provincial money to tear down the Saddledome. So then how is that unfair?

Lastly, it seems to be unfair that Edmonton is getting more money for urgent care, even though he admits wait times are longer in Edmonton than Calgary.

All I can make of it, is his argument is that it is unfair if Edmonton ever gets anything more than Calgary in a particular year without taking into consideration the past or other circumstances. Is he feeling ok, because he seems to have a bunch of very strange arguments here.

Is Don Braid just the Calgary version of Lorne Gunter? Seems he is desperately grasping at straws to get people riled up over nothing (like Gunter has been lately).

He used to be more lucid. I wonder if he either he is sort of losing it in his advanced age or someone else is writing this and he is putting his name to it. It doesn't seem like his style in the past.
 
Read the letter from the MLA from Slave lake. Not happy that Edmonton and Calgary are getting any money. Since The Rural regions and the economic heart of the province.
