The opening is part of the highly anticipated redevelopment of the north side of Southgate which was once home to a large department store. London Drugs itself features wider aisles and unique offerings meant to create efficiency for visitors.

The Sporting Life hoarding is now gone from the front. Looks huge inside. Looks to be a few racks inside but no merchandise yet. Wonder if they will be open before for Christmas ? And Safeway has many of their windows now as plywood as well the the west side too. Maybe replacing windows?

The suspect was kicked out of Safeway earlier in the day on Friday for shop lifting then came back in the middle of the night and smashed just about every window on the north side and a few on the west side. They say they have him on video so hopefully they catch him.

The Sporting Life hoarding is still up inside the mall across from the Apple store.
The Bay escalators have been under construction since March or April but they still not done. This is supposed to be Edmonton's flagship Bay location but I think it's rather boring and conservative in comparison to the rest of the mall.

That would not be surprising at all and many American giant retailers are facing the same fate.

They did stop paying their lease at City Centre for a good while before they openly announced their intention to vacate the store so it’s not outside of their playbook. To do that at their Southgate location is a bit shocking however
