Old Royal Alberta Museum

I assume if they're bringing back possibly saving it, considering how close they were to demo-ing it, that they have a general idea of a few of the proposals they are going to get, no?

I would hope so. But with this government, there's just as good a chance this is all for show to make it seem like they're listening, like their panels and biased surveys they're running right now.

God I hope this building is saved and repurposed

I'm disappointed to hear that the NDP also wanted to demolish the old RAM when they were in power back in 2015.
It's always important to remember that the NDP are NOT urbanists. Many of their most powerful supporters are old school inner city elites who are strong NIMBYs.

Many urbanists are NDP supporters but the party is ambivalent at best about urban policies.

This sounds really promising, even if negotiations with this developer aren't successful, there's 2 more backups. Do we have any ideas as to who the front runner for this is? and is there any cause for concern of what the province considers "balancing community interest and historic value in a cost-effective way" lol

I don't know for certain, but I know Beljan had expressed a strong interest in repurposing the building and had worked with an architect and an indigenous group to flesh out a concept.
Correct, they teamed up with Reimagine Architects on that one. They approached the Italian Centre to become an anchor tenant and apparently Teresa was in support.
