Miscellaneous

Roads are still closed, I am sad to report. But the fire seems to be out and at this point the fire fighters are just chatting outside the building.
103 St southbound still cannot turn onto Bellamy/97 Ave.
98 Ave in front of our building is actually packed full of vehicles trying to detour.
97 Ave is still half-blocked by the firetrucks.
Will try to report back a bit later as the situation changes.
Stay tuned to ADob Traffic at SRC for the latest!

What a mess this was! Had the radio station was I listening to mentioned this before their regular hourly news, I could have taken another route and saved being stuck in traffic.

As of 2:07, the firefighters are dousing the building once more as more smoke billows and all roads remain blocked.
I suppose I could have called CBC radio and let them know. I just assumed someone on the road (as opposed to me in my living room) would have done it.

No changes. My husband tells me 100 Ave is backed up, so is 98 Ave. Fire trucks remain in place, building continues to smoke. I'd strongly recommend looking for alternate routes out of downtown.

Thanks! You saved me again this afternoon. I took 107 St to 96 Ave, then down around the ballpark to get back onto 97 Ave. Worked like a charm and probably saved me another hour today. If you're up early, another update in the morning would be greatly appreciated, though I expect it might be back open by then. :)

I'm usually up at 4. I promise I'll look out first thing 😁.

As of now, they used an excavator to take down at least part of the building. Most firefighters are gone but the police, EMS, and what looks like the fire investigators remain. And the roads remain closed and backed up. We're glued to our living room windows like a couple Polish grandmas in the old country, scoping out what's going on haha.

I like to know what is happening and who is coming and going for security purposes you understand.

I think they were aware but just didn't break into regular programing to announce this, at least when I was listening in the morning.
