Miscellaneous

For a city that wishes to promote a 15 minute city really should be focusing on TOD's a whole lot more. Another potential great area if done right to increase density that will not only benefit the LRT but also the surrounding area is the proximity to the 124st station.
I noticed construction near century park station I think they’re building a couple new buildings! But I totally agree there needs to be a lot more TOD around the city

Stadium Yards is how you build TOD in this city.

The folks who are in charge of Bonnie Doon Mall, Millwoods Town Centre, Southgate Mall, Kingsway Mall, ECC, The Quarters, Northlands, Belvedere and Clareview need to be taking notes and asking questions.

I was in Edmonton this past week with my girlfriend.

around). One neighbouthood she really enjoyed was Winketowin, especially after learning of the VLW and seeing all the new developments going up in the area. We stayed there for the week at a friends place and walked to mostly everything a lot of the time.

Learning that after the VLW is complete basically all of our major destinations will be connected to rail transit was something she appreciated a lot,

All of the construction was very annoying
Woah, this is news to me. Congrats on the new relationship!
As for the construction, particularly with the Valley Line West, it ties into the general sentiment I’ve developed about this city over the past year, which is that Edmonton’s kind of going through an ugly puberty phase right now. And too often, it’s easy to forget that behind the mess of construction pylons, dust and asphalt mangled by heavy equipment, the city’s going through some absolutely transformative changes to boost its infrastructure and amenities (especially in the core) that’ll all look fantastic together by ~2030.

Thanks mate!

And yeah, this is a great analogy. All the construction is annoying, but knowing how much it's going to improve everything in the city is very exciting. For me, in particular, VLW, O'Daymin Park (and all the development around it), Jasper Ave renewal and (hopefully) ICE District Phase 2 will be the things to change the face and vibe of Edmonton, especially the core, into a proper big city. In another 5 or 6 years Edmonton will be unrecognizable, in a good way.

I'm still waiting for WEM to build a couple hi-rise condos on their site but I won't hold my breath...otherwise I'd pass out and die.
