Miscellaneous

A better system would see that when streets and sidewalks are redone they get Geothermal heat pumps set in place so that when the road temperatures are extremely cold/hot they are ameliorated and when there is snowfall that it is immediately melted (sublimated). The system could be sensor controlled so that it is only engaged when needed. That would help to eliminate auto accidents, slip-and-falls; reduce snow-plow operations, eliminate salt and sand expenditures, and eliminate snow storage sites (that could then be used for other purposes). The initial expense would be high and there would be some maintenance costs but the end result solution would be equitable and would address many negative concerns. Other cities in Europe do this; why not Edmonton/

Where is this?
Kona Corner, you know, like the coffee bean from Hawaii’s big island…..lol

Concur....that's what it was.....but doesn't that aerial suggest otherwise? Ie, underground services being put in.....
The site was hard surfaced and the settling pond was relocated/expanded so the services you see are to service the new settling pond. It is still and will a snow storage site for the foreseeable future. Several snow storage sites will be undergoing staged reconstruction in the coming years.

I was passing by the Derwas Court apartments for the first time in a while and was really taken by their beauty. Does anyone know what's going on with them? They've been fenced for at least several months—are they being restored?
(photo taken from a moving bus—apologies for the weird angle)

I was passing by this beauty once again, this time on foot, and I heard something like a running motor from one of the upper floors. Could it be undergoing renovation?

Some interesting infill happening in Woodcroft.

Looks like it will be three 4-unit rowhouses, all with secondary suites. 24 homes on a lot that used to be 2 SFH's 😮

Site has been vacant for 10+ years as well. With the Brentwood project getting started, there will soon be a lot more people in this area to make use of the new Coronation rec centre!

Edit: Their previous work looks to be high quality, this could turn out quite nice!
