Interesting, the site was purchased last year by Gather Co., the same group that owns the Mercer Building and recently purchased the Stovel Block on 97 Street (which they are renovating). They must be building new if the Milla is coming down.

Is this the last of the alco-hotels left in the core?
 
So yeah, that looks like a prison yard sponsored by ScotiaBank. (throwing no shade though, just my initial impression looking at the photo lol)
 
Looked at it yesterday and the enclosed walk ways to the hotels. Definitely prison like. only better beds. Like an Olympic village without the atmosphere.
