Miscellaneous

I've never tried Firehouse Subs before. If they are a Canadian company and their subs are good then then I'll be abandoning Subway.
Sort of. Owned by Restaurant Brands International (RBI), who also have Burger King and Tim Hortons and are a multinational organization.

I would recommend Pals, Farrow, or Banh Mi Day, but since many of the places like Subway are locally-owned franchises, I wouldn't get too in the weeds about "is it Canadian".

Exactly - don't eat there for all anyone cares but get over the notion of not eating at Non-Canadian restaurants - 99.9% of their stores are still in the US and I think we established a while back that RBI is 40%(?) owned by a Brazilian multi-national. So it means you can't eat at Tim's, BK, Popeyes or Firehouse. Plus that's a no-go for McD's, Subway, Sbux, Wendy's etc. A&W even started in the US - can't go there either.....

Btw, Beaumont is getting a Firehouse any day now.....yay!

I really should try Banh Mi Day sometime soon. I used to pop into Fantasia Noodle House Express about one a month for their Vietnamese sammiches until the owners retired and were replaced by Banh Mi Day.

I used to live near it in Wihkwentowin (Oliver) and every time I would walk past it, I would say the same thing. I finally tried it right before moving out of that place.

Oh the wasted years - they are fantastic sandwiches.

Now this building deserves the "cactus rat" moniker. I am really looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. I suspect that an otherwise blah building might sparkle a bit.
