Bear Hills Casino
Bear Hills Casino
I wonder how Century is doing by the airport - and what impact Bear Hills will have on Century.I can't wait for this casino to open! It could potentially be a big draw for motorists traveling to Edmonton on the QE2. Not sure if this will include QE2 SB access.
This appears to be a very odd twinning project, and I can't figure out why it's a good idea in their mind. Only 19ave to 34 ave is being done initially, and while yes this is a big choke point especially with the new school opening, they're leaving 2 small sections as single lane, which I think is going to cause headaches for anyone coming from the Whitemud or Henday ways.Is there any info available on the twinning of 17th Street from the Henday to ~39ave? It's well underway, but there's no information on the City's website, nor Building Edmonton or even the current construction map. By the looks of it, they are not yet twinning the section between Silverberry Road and 39 ave (to match where it's already twinned), and I'm trying to find out if that's just a Phase 2 thing, or if it's going to be a while until that area is done (which is just a ridiculous bottleneck, to have like 8 blocks in the middle of the route go back down to 2 lanes).
IIRC, I also saw something about Hwy 956, which would be link between La Loche, SK and Anzac. That seems like an easy win for an alternate route to Fort McMurray, the only issue is it also approaches Fort Mac from the south.
Now if only they could get the right of way on the rail network it might be worth doing. The one time we took the train it was 22hrs delayed before even reaching Edmonton. Worse, their communication sucked and they insisted on telling us "soon" the entire time! Awesome experience once we were actually on the train though.VIA Rail got $$ from the Feds to replace the rest of their aging fleet, including the Budd Cars for the Canadian. If you want to experience the last transcontinental Budd Car fleet in the world, go soon.
