Misc. Parks and Greenspace Projects

Function over form there and there other options, but this works well in Calgary. You can add colour and great lighting to offset.

I think a neotetherball outdoor facility designed for teams of two players aside would be a grand addition here. No centre pole; rather an arched 4-legged support with the tethered ball suspended from the apex. The playing surface would be ramped on either side such that the tether radius would remain constant for any part of the playing field. Contestants could use one dedicated hand fitted with a punching glove to connect with the ball; they could also use their heads (headers) and their feet in a bicycle kick motion to propel the tethered ball, aiming to score on an overhead score zone on each side of the playing field. Built-in stands would make this a spectator sport akin (sorta) to beach volleyball. This could be an Edmonton-authored sport. The areas under the stands at each end would have monitored restrooms (south end off 100 Ave.) and street food kiosk and kitchen (north end). I think I will use my ArchiCAD program to create a concept rendering and bring it to life with Lightworks and Vectorworks programs. All of this to say no chain-link fence but rather beautiful border planting with unique Edmonton specimens. In front of the wall on the Masons' building we could have a vertical planter wall merged with sculptural lighting.
