Does anyone have information on the apartments just south of Meadowlark Mall on 87th ave? They’ve already broken ground and it looks like a sizeable development.

Initially I thought it was just LRT construction but they’re going full tilt on it now.

Interesting, that project has been unfunded for 8 years, and that lot vacant for probably 20..

Was this stimulated by valley line west? 5 minute walk to Meadowlark stop, not bad even for seniors.

What a shame, was a great site for some thoughtful development. The design for the Elmwood Terrace seniors housing that was previously proposed was heaps better than this. Too bad RMS got their hands on it, the design is cheap, uninspired and basic. I am all for increasing density in the area and this site is perfect for it, just wish it didn't have to be an eyesore.

I would not judge this until its completed,
There is little chance this turns out horribly offensive

Worst case Scenario its a generic but inoffensive Design that will boost density
There is still other sites for Less Generic buildings

At Least it's Not that apartment building by the Stadium (Stadium Plaza) That skimped on BALCONIES and looks like 2013

Hey you know what... you're right. I'll hold my judgement, I often forget that it could be worse. Happy to see increasing density to support the Valley Line and existing surrounding businesses, so I will take that win. There is no design that pleases everyone anyways!

while I can't exactly make out the use(s) of what seems to be an interior courtyard from the plan view, it does seem to be just parking. again, lost opportunity for a pleasurable garden/play ground area.

Agreed. Not much of any amenity or green space at all it looks like. When they go through the effort of constructing an underground parkade I wish they would just ensure that it has enough parking for all the units. Of course there is need for some above ground parking for visitors and for accessibility needs but here there are 18 visitor/handicap stalls and 36 unit surface stalls. Would have been nice to see building amenity space in place of those 36 stalls. But I guess it remains to be seen what amenities they provide inside. I don't see any space provided for children to play so imagine this will likely be bachelor/1 bedroom and maybe a few 2 bedrooms but nothing for families.

At least they have provided a bunch of bike parking! (if I read it right) :)

Wait until you see how the empty lot next to this beauty is now being used as an informal resident parking lot! Really sets the vibe. 🤣
