LRT Safety

The transit system should be only a transit system, not a mobile homeless shelter or harm reduction site. It's allowing actions like this to fester that turn good people to vote CONServatives. When will the progressive left get that?!
Don't you get it? We don't deserve a transit system until we have solved all the systemic injustices that result in homelessness.

Commissionaires are giving out Narcan? That pretty much makes all the stations supervised consumption sites, no wonder there are constant issues with people doing drugs in the hallways
Only Edmonton Fire Dept is allowed to, not even the EPS is allowed to……

In the post I replied to it says "Number of Nalaxone deployments by Commissionaires".

I would also be surprised they are allowed to do that given their response to all other incidents is to "observe and report" only. Maybe I misunderstanding what that chart means?

Sometimes I wonder how current transit outcomes would have fared had the City never established the policy of using LRT stations as de facto shelters during cold weather events for a few years there. Just set such a bad precedent, particularly in tolerating that sort of usage beyond exceptional circumstances.

Heart in the right place, but you really wonder how many of the people who approved (or supported) that decision actually rode the LRT on a regular basis.
