Surprised the UK hasn't initiated something like it following the disaster that was Brexit.

The Republicans now control the Senate with 52 of 100 seats elected or called and look to be well on the way to controlling Congress with the count 205 to 190 with 40 still to be determined of which the Republicans only need 13 while the democrats need 28 (a majority is 218).

More importantly, Americans did not learn from 2016 - 2020. This is going to be a very painful time from a "history" perspective. I project a Democratic landslide in the mid-terms of 2026 and a return to normalcy in 2028, probably with Gavin Newsom becoming the 48th President of the U.S.

There was a reprieve, but unfortunately the orange menace did not go away. I suspect after a few years of chaos and turmoil more people will start to remember why they voted him out the first time.
However the Democrats will also have to get a candidate with more populist appeal if they want to win. I feel the Pennsylvania governor may be the type needed.

Yes, Gavin Newsom or Josh Shapiro... both resonate with populist sentiments as well as having brains in their crania (imagine if they were a team!). People will tire of Trump really fast. The sad part is that the more he is criticized the more radical he becomes.

Yes he doesn't take criticism well, a challenge for some others too I guess, but even more so for him. People will tire of the chaos and turmoil in particular, regardless of ideology most people want at least some stability from their government.
I do feel that the buffoon act is partly that and he says outrageous things at time to successfully take attention away from other things. He seems to have at least figured out this works for him.

- The parliamentary ethics committee has called Liberal cabinet minister Randy Boissonnault to testify for a third time as newly disclosed text messages raise more questions about his possible involvement in a medical supply business while in office. Last week’s National Post showing that a company he used to own, Global Health Imports (GHI), identified as “Indigenous and LGBTQ” owned while bidding on federal contracts in June 2020 through Canada’s Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business program. Global News has reported there have been at least a half-dozen lawsuits against GHI since it was founded in early 2020.
- In an affidavit dated Nov. 5, Michael R. Weber, the lawyer for California-based medical supply distribution company 4M Medical, said the company Boissonnault co-owned with Anderson took US$250,000 in a deposit for medical gloves that were never delivered.
- Conservative MP Michael Cooper accused Boissonnault of misleading the House of Commons by claiming he turned over his phone records for the GHI ethics investigation — when he had, Cooper said, only turned over the records from one device.
- At his behest, the Liberal party once referred to him as a former “journalist and political commentator.” The Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec (FPJQ) has said this is simply untrue. Boissonnault has made no effort to clarify.

Even if Randy Boissonnault does run again for re-election, he'll be hard-pressed to win against a powerful opponent in Trisha Estabrooks of the NDP.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada will soon see a significant decline in immigration as the government attempts to fix its “mistakes.”
In a six-minute video shared on Sunday, Trudeau stated that since Canada’s population has grown “baby-boomer fast,” the government plans to temper growth by reducing the number of immigrants in the next three years.
“I’m going to let you in on what happened, where we made some mistakes, and why we’re taking this big turn,” he said. “Looking back, as the post-pandemic boom cooled and business no longer needed the additional labour help, as a federal team, we could have acted quicker and turned off the taps faster.”
Trudeau said bad actors and fake colleges have used the immigration system to obtain cheap foreign labour. He also pointed out that rental prices in major cities have dropped since the government capped the number of international students entering the country.
