Federal Politics

They said that after the election, but broader dissatisfaction with the CPC doesn't seem to be distilled directly towards Poilievre.
I'm not convinced that's the case. As much as we don't directly elect our Prime Minister, they typically "set the tone" for their party and that tone in turn sets the level of public satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the party much more than the other way around. You only have to look at the Liberal Party's trajectory prior to and subsequent to their replacing the Crown Prince of Pretty Socks with an experienced and talented adult.

Be interesting to see if rumours are correct and we see at least 2 more cross the floor. PP will stay on for at least a few more months. If anymore cross that could be the end. But if the floor crossers are PCers then the hard right side may keep him on.

Libs are only up cuz of Trump. When he goes, Libs will lose support.
Under Trudeau, absolutely. But Carney is basically a socially Liberal Harper. I think alot of folks are happy to have a mature adult in charge without the crazies on either side of the spectrum. The NDP has chosen to swing hard left, and the Conservatives refuse to stop bowing to their very loud right flank. If Carney avoids major corruption/scandal (big ask of the Liberal party) he could govern for a long time.

Interestingly, just below the headline it says "Privately, however there are serious doubts about his viability." What he helped do to the party leader before him, may happen to him.

It's also amazing how some images can really stick with the public. There's no doubt his hardcore supporters loved the 🍎 apple eating episode, but I still hear people talking about that 'arrogance' as such a turnoff.

The cockiness appealed to some and turned off others, so it probably was at best no net gain for him.

Yea, I agree. Like JT as Blackface, and dancing in Indian garb while in India

It's always been interesting to me that after a decade of demonstrably bad policies, the only thing Fox News viewers remember about Trudeau is this - from before he was elected.
Short attention span, lack of ability or desire to actually read up on policy and political decisions, swift emotional impact - it's easier to get people riled up about stuff like this than genuine political or other malfeasance. Remember the Lewinsky scandal? It was easier to get people up in arms about something that required the barest amount of knowledge or understanding.
