Federal Politics

Short attention span, lack of ability or desire to actually read up on policy and political decisions, swift emotional impact - it's easier to get people riled up about stuff like this than genuine political or other malfeasance. Remember the Lewinsky scandal? It was easier to get people up in arms about something that required the barest amount of knowledge or understanding.
JT seems to have made impressions alright, before, during, after, ie

Key Policy Criticisms and Controversies
  • Housing and Immigration: Critics point to a 3.5 million person increase in population over five years, which strained infrastructure and exacerbated a severe housing affordability crisis.
  • Economic and Fiscal Policy: Federal debt rose to $1.9 trillion (2022-23), with projections of $2.4 trillion by 2027-28. The government was accused of high spending, leading to deficits.
  • Environmental Policy: While promoting sustainability, the approval of the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion ($34 billion estimated cost) was seen as a contradiction to climate goals, creating a "mixed legacy".
  • Carbon Tax: The federal carbon pricing policy faced intense opposition, with many Canadians blaming it for rising costs of living, according to the Angus Reid Institute.
  • Ethical Scandals:
    • SNC-Lavalin Affair: The Ethics Commissioner found Trudeau violated conflict of interest rules by pressuring the Attorney General.
    • Aga Khan Vacation: The Ethics Commissioner found that free vacations on a private island violated federal ethics rules.
  • Broken Promises: A significant promise on electoral reform was abandoned after the 2015 election.
  • COVID-19 Response: While initially popular, subsidies like the CERB were criticized for lack of oversight, with funds going to large corporations that subsequently achieved record profits

How many of the above polices are now being turned around, Immigration, Carbon Tax, spending on defense . Even now, JT seem to exercise poor judgement, having a good time in Coachella with Ms Perry. So much for elbows up Mr JT.
Trump will have something to say about this if he finds out, eH

Absolutely, but all of the above require being actively informed, which isn't really the demographic that Fox and its ilk go for.

Well Fox and the other similar ones in the US don't generally pay close attention to Canada. They probably vaguely know Trudeau is gone (to Coachella?) and things have changed some with our Federal government

So for the most part they will probably go back to doing what the US does best - ignoring us, at least until their crazy uncle dear leader says something about us again. Although I have the feeling he is preoccupied with many other things right now, hopefully that will not happen for some time.
