I used to think Parks n Rec was waaaaay exaggerated with the way they portray citizen engagement with municipal gov't, but turns out they're only somewhat exaggerating.
 
It should be noted that the approved rezoning is a bit different from the November application.

The approved rezoning is for 2 fewer storeys (11 vs 13) and 20 fewer units (140 vs 160). Brings it down to 34m as opposed to 40m as was applied for in fall 2020.
 
Huh? The initial project was approved and quite wonderful, even with significant opposition.

It failed due to a developer issue, not a community one.

I believe he meant the original design that had the cascading levels.

It could be argued that if they were able to proceed with that instead of spending additional months re-designing and going back to consultation/council for approval, the developer may have caught a window in the market where they executed the project. But, it could have just as easily led to the same "new" design at the current timelines. Who knows.
