Century Place and Chancery Hall, both on 102A Avenue are available for sale.
Yes, but there's going to be more than just those 2 buildings

yes for sure, these arent $3BYes, but there's going to be more than just those 2 buildings
So if more of these buildings are rinks or pools rather than office buildings the reasons for keeping it private are probably more for political than commercial purposes.Says in the article they have 15 buildings they plan to list for sale and 12 more they want to close/demo.
Probably going to see more old rinks/pools closed and/or demo'd, some of which are in really bad shape and are very expensive in terms of both CMR and operational cost.
My dream scenario in in Wikhwentowin is that the current pool and arena can be "consolidated" into a large natural pool like in Borden.^
Tipton, Oliver, Ross Barnes and Westwood are the 4 oldest arenas that are probably in danger

I do love the single sheet community facilities but if you take out the minor hockey nostalgia the facilities really do just suck even beyond their physical condition. Tiny dressing rooms, tiny showers, tiny foyer, cramped stands, etc. It's also cute having them in neighbourhoods until all the adjacent side streets are filled with big SUVs from hockey parents.Which is ok IF they plan on replacing a few (which they aren't) and so we drive much further out.
Sure there's the community rink Downtown, but a few single ice sheets SHOULD be replaced, not just passed on because they cannot fit a MEGA centre in there.
Do they? In all cases?Yup, I think the days of single rinks are going away. Multi-sheet facilities need to happen for numerous reasons.
