Edmonton Oilers

Terrible effort from the Oilers who lose their 3rd straight. You'd think that after being embarrassed we would play hard but the first 2 periods was some of the worst hockey I've witnessed all season. No effort, no drive, not a single player besides maybe McDavid playing well. Great job by our coach to mix up every single line after 1 bad loss, you could tell the team had 0 chemistry at all. Ryan Murray re-enters the lineup despite the team having won 5 in a row as soon as he left it. Can't blame the goalie for that but yet again not getting that 1 extra big save we need. Oilers seem to have a knack for losing in regulation by one goal as well. We gave WSH 5 PP's and they SCORED ON 4 OF THEM. 20% PK. We played hard in the 3rd but honestly I'm glad we didn't get a point out of that because this team needs to learn if you're not going to even try for half the game then you don't deserve anything. This team looked exactly like the one from 2018-19, just simply bad play and no one really seems to care until its too late.

Too little, too late and an absolutely horrible PK.

You are going to lose 100% of the time when you let the opposing team go 4/5.

Jesse needs to go, it's time to make room for someone who can do something, anything.

I agree. There were maybe two shifts where I thought he did some good, but that's too few for a player of his size and supposed calibre.

The joke from the panel last night was that McD and Drai will not finish #1,2 in scoring if they are burdened by Jesse.

A very scary incident with Kane tonight as Maroon inadvertently skated over his wrist.

Here's hoping it is nothing serious; by all accounts the response was exceptional.

Great bounce back game tonight in Tampa Bay. Oilers win 3-2 in a gutsy effort and get their first win in Tampa since 2009. McDavid has a goal and an assist continues to be on fire, while special teams were our downfall last night they were our strongest point tonight. We go 2/4 on the PP and a perfect 5/5 on the PK against a tough Tampa Bay PP. Everyone looked more awake today like they wanted to get the win, special shoutout to Jack Campbell who makes 34 saves and only allows 2 goals, he's been itching for a good start and he got one tonight. Maybe a little bit of luck with Tampa missing some wide open net chances but he was solid in net tonight. Warren Foegele as well deserves some praise, after a slow start and terrible giveaway last night he came in with some fire. Opened the scoring where we are now 6-0 when scoring first, it was a well placed shot short handed. Also recorded the "hit of the game" and blocked a shot in the dying seconds. Draisaitl adds a goal to extend his goal scoring streak to 5. Unfortunately this game also marked a very scary injury for Evander Kane, as he fell to the ice and while lying there Patrick Maroons skate accidentally clipped his wrist, it's likely there was an artery cut as a lot of blood spilled out immediately. The team reported he was rushed to the hospital and is scheduled for surgery likely to repair that artery, hopefully there was no further damage. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Next game also a tough one, Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

A decent overall game by the Oilers and 2pts that I will take without much comment.

How bout' dem Flames? Vancouver within striking distance!

Evander Kane will be out 3-4 months after his wrist was cut deeply by a skate last night. Thankfully he is ok as that could've been much worse, wish him the best of luck in his recovery.

With that timeline Kane goes on LTIR and frees up 5 million in cap space which gives us more flexibility to call up guys from the AHL, at the moment that would be Mattias Janmark and Klim Kostin.

Yikes... 7-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, our team didn't play nearly as bad as the score suggests nor were we at our best. Honestly I was expecting a loss tonight, Carolina is a tough team and they were hungry for a win which they deservingly got, but we had our chances. We came out the gate strong, Dylan Holloway missed on a penalty shot, Hyman missed on a breakaway, we hit a couple posts and honestly defensively we were ok. We didn't let Carolina generate too many high danger chances and even when were hemmed in we kept them to the perimeter. McDavid a goal and an assist again, I just feel bad for him at this point.

The problem more than ever is goaltending. Somehow even Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen, who had stretches where they were not good, were significantly better than Campbell. Jack Campbell is simply awful at the moment, if he was even just average tonight this would've been close. In the 1st period he was strong, unfortunately for us Carolina scored with 20 seconds left, a "ball buster" of a goal. In the 2nd Carolina scored coming off of a 5 on 3, cross crease can't blame him on that. Third goal... right through his glove... again. 4th goal he is way too deep in his net in the final second of the 2nd period, 3-1 game heading into the 3rd is much different than 4-1. 5th goal terrible rebound control right into the slot and up and over him, 6th not as much his fault but again poor rebound control and then hes looking the wrong way not even moving while Svechnikov has tons of time on the side to elevate the puck for the hat-trick. 7th goal he was frustrated at this point but he just gave it away right in the slot because when it rains it pours. This was Campbells 10th start, he is now 6-0 and has allowed more than 3 goals 7 TIMES in 10 games, .880SV%, >4 GAA. Yes the Oilers dont play the best defense but that is simply inexcusable. Not only is that not good enough for a starter its not even good enough for a backup in the NHL. He even had a good game against Tampa but instead of building off of it he put up one of his worst performances yet. No clue what to do with him.

An elite Hurricanes team showing Edmonton how to play hockey:(

We had a lot of early chances and when you don't capitalize on a few of them you will get burnt.

Campbell not great, but just like most of the last 10yrs, it's because we hang them out to dry for 50% of the goals.
