Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I'm confused, what was the point of that? Or was it simply "if you wanna board, you're gonna have to buy carry-on"?

You had to go to the check-in counter to get your personal item sized before they’d issue you a boarding pass (and pay if it didn’t fit).

I also had stopped flying Flair as it made it more inconvenient having to show up earlier to get your back sized before the cut off at the check-in counter vs heading straight to the gate.

Can anyone verify that I can check-in online for a Flair flight from YEG if I'm only flying with a personal item? Have they quit with this silliness?

Screened passenger data is out for the whole summer from Statistics Canada. This is passengers who go through security screening and doesn't include people connecting through an airport who don't pass through security.

Overall at YEG, the number of screened passengers was up 5.5% between September 2024 and 2025. Domestic passengers increased 10.5%, international passengers by 11.5%, while U.S. passengers declined 25%. StatsCan reports this pattern is repeated at the eight largest airports in Canada. (Although YUL was the only airport to post a small decline year-over-year.)

“……Europe’s 2nd most expensive airport now (with recent uptick in airport charges)….”

There is construction happening on the west side of runway 12-30. From a distance it appears to utility installations
