Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I was flying out Friday morning and they’re building something with seating right in front of Avalon as well (across the hall). Is that part of Avalon or something entirely different?
I think they are just finishing up the carpet replacement there - the seating area in front of Gate #56 - in front of here was all displaced last Monday night when I was thru there.

I read somewhere about this. That av geeks are going hog wild about this news. Apparently these planes have been sitting in an airplane graveyard in AZ and are coming out of retirement due to not enough AC planes this Summer?
Meanwhile Air Canada's 737 Max-8 are all being shuffled to Air Canada Rogue, so interesting shuffles are afoot across the board.

Based on the same presentation where AC announced the Max was being moved to Rouge, they released likely deployments for their new A321Neos that start joining the fleet next year, and Edmonton is among the destinations with YYC and YVR.

I haven't been to the duty-free store in decades. Did they renovate just recently?

I've noticed and wondered how does one put up a duty free on the domestic side of a terminal? I've seen them in US airports and wondered the same thing. I guess we must have more transfer passengers coming IN domestically and leaving on the US side?

They check your boarding pass and deliver the bag to your gate. For YEG it would be international flights (Mexico, Europe etc) since those are in the same part of the terminal.

Never thought about Canadians going to Mexico....doesn't it behoove oneself to pay more 10X at a duty free in YEG than at the local donkey cart guy with an old, dirty, greasy gas can selling $0.25 shots of questionable Mezcal?

From this video, they say that Westjet is adding 25% more domestic capacity next year which is adding about 2 million passengers. I don’t understand how that’s equivalent to 2 million. But if it is, that could mean YEG can hit the 10 million next year if all those seats were filled.

Anyone have any updates about the Dallas service with AA resuming?

Not currently & AA hasn’t flown the Edmonton YEG- Dallas DFW since early 2015 when it got “cut” due to not enough demand✅.

If AA was going to add YEG to DFW again at some point, they’ll probably start route (seasonally & see how it plays out) & increase it depending on demand✅.
They’re fairly conservative like WestJet when starting up a new route it seems & 2 good examples: AA Calgary YYC - Charlotte CLT was 1x weekly in S24 on Saturdays & they increased it to 4x weekly in S25 & AA recently loaded a new 1x weekly YYC- New York LaGuardia LGA route operating on Saturdays for this upcoming Summer season.
