Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Agree. BA British Airways has Not added much in Canada 🇨🇦 since they ended its Calgary YYC service end of (October 2019) except for increasing Vancouver YVR/Toronto YYZ - London LHR, UK 🇬🇧 flights ✈️during Spring / Summer seasons.

As for VS Virgin Atlantic, their *new* Toronto YYZ - LHR starting end of March 2025 should do ok with feed from WestJet & don’t think they will add service from Western Canada until they see how well the YYZ service does.

I don’t think AC Air Canada has plans to do Edmonton YEG- London LHR on Boeing 787.
Once AC gets deliveries of the *new* Airbus A321 XLR, YEG - LHR is a very good possibility✅ .
Plus Ottawa YOW - LHR service will most likely be moved from the 787 to A321 XLR planes operating that in the future.

As for WestJet currently no, as they don’t have enough Boeing 787’s.
According to the reports I have seen AC’s plans for the XLR are to operate from YUL and YYZ to underserved locations in the Mediterranean and North Africa. If they do decide to fly out of here it won’t be for a few years when those other markets are served. Also they do not have a feeder network at YEG. Someone else noted that wasting a slot space at LHR with a narrow body is unlikely.

Flair has cut all its transborder routes from YEG after the first week of April (YYC as well). PHX was only scheduled to finish after Easter, but LAS was supposed to run until June and start again in the fall and it’s gone completely from the schedule.

Not surprised, Flair Airlines Canada 🇨🇦-US🇺🇸/ Mexico 🇲🇽 nonstop flights ✈️ year round has been mainly consolidated through Vancouver YVR/ Toronto YYZ.

While Flair’s Alberta service from both Calgary YYC / Edmonton YEG has been mostly domestic year round & (winter seasonal to US/ Mexico).

Oh is that so? How come YVR lost 3 out of their 5 US destinations as well?
