I am assuming it based on the most recent situation at 104 St and 103 Ave. Also, next to the lovely Kelly Ramsey building is a pile of rubble and that one was a tear down, not just once, but twice.

However I would agree Whyte Ave at least does have a history of preserving interesting and historical buildings, which is one of the reasons it is more appealing than downtown. We do still seem determined to sterilize our downtown.
The proposed redevelopment of the Horne and Pitfield Building will incorporate the facades into the new development, no different then what's happened with Kelly-Ramsey and many, many other projects in other cities. The demolition of the BMO Building (while shortsighted), can't and shouldn't be compared.

Is that new development guaranteed? No!!! Once, you tear down a building you can not undo it. This is what leads to a number of the empty lots in our sterile downtown and unfortunately that is what the Tegler/BMO site has become right now.

How much longer are we going to get sucked into the delusions of developers who peddle them? However, what might be be profitable for them leave us with a mess and then everyone is shocked it happened once again.

Kelly-Ramsey was gutted by a fire arson, so preserving the facade was more a necessity if anything was to be saved at all.

There's nothing wrong with the Horne & Pitfield building AFAIK, so preserving just the facade here would be very very shortsighted
