That's what I love to hear. It sounds like Knack's collaborative approach has been working so far. I hope this translates into real collaborative work between the city and the province; there's things in here that each of them can and should do.

I mean we haven't really heard anything negative regarding Knack from the provincials yet.

It's a weird timeline where Calgary, Farkas and the UCP might butt heads more than Knack and our council right now.

A real shame too. I wanted to vote for her in 2021 because she seemed like she was genuinely interested in business development, particularly for downtown. But the moment she said she wanted to cancel the West LRT, I noped out so fast.

That's a great document. Kind of an indictment on all the levels of government, that seem to be failing on all these issues, that this coalition group has to articulate what has to be done. And remember if your elected representatives can't act and affect a difference, vote for someone else!

I heard a good phrase yesterday "Corrosive Complacency". I feel like we have had that and hopefully can climb out of it.

I without a doubt still think she is genuinely interested in business development and our downtown and despite losing the election has demonstrated her ongoing interest and commitment to making the city better (how many other mayoral candidates from past couple of elections have?). I'm glad she's doing the work she is and while I disagree with the position she took on LRT, she's an asset to our city in many ways.

So, the DRC wants a safe consumption site and jail to open up Downtown lol?

I'd say the last two points are/were provided by social agencies like Bissell, Boyle and Hope, but they've all had funding cut in some way over the last couple of years. I'd say the GOA is responsible for all of those points, as they all relate to either health or housing.
 
It might look something like they're trialing in Winnipeg - 72 hour detox. And something like the navigation centre protocols for those openly doing drugs but requiring assistance.

DM for Mental Health and Additions (Recovery Alberta) was at the event and spoke to what the province is planning. To be clear this document is to lobby all levels of government on whatever their jurisdiction is.

Yes, for all the obvious and ongoing troubles downtown I find it very odd why we don't see regular patrols around more often. I feel it is almost like the police are avoiding doing their jobs.
