Downtown

@KyleBlanchett God yes, I love that store. But sadly that seems unlikely given they already have two stores in Edmonton.

I'd even take an H&M at this point, just something to signal that downtown retail is turning the corner.

Could Ikea's small urban format work in Edmonton? I like the idea, and think Edmonton would be a good test market in the near future located in the Oliver and Downtown neighborhoods. 124th Street comes to mind too, but thankfully that area still trends towards a more local/independent creative scene.

'Urbanization is taking hold in other cities in Canada as well. Downtown Edmonton and Calgary are seeing new residents as developers build new condominium and apartment towers, and Ottawa and Winnipeg are also seeing increasing urban populations. It’s a trend seen in other cities in North America as downtown cores are increasingly seen as desirable places to live.'

Edmonton Culture Trip:
What To Do During a 48 Hour Stay

It’s not nearly enough time, but it’s a start.
Edmonton, one of the youngest major cities in Canada, is all grown up—and it’s high time you visit. Long known as the “gateway to the north”, Edmonton may have built its economy on oil, but a quietly-growing tech industry is underway, along with a slick new entertainment district and vibrant entrepreneurial creative class. It’s also home to the largest urban parkland in all of North America, the Edmonton River Valley, which is 22 times bigger than New York’s Central Park and is best seen via bicycle or Segway—unless, of course, it’s snowing. Here is a selection of what to do in Edmonton on a short jaunt.
