Downtown Crime

It was shutdown during its renovation and transition, but is very much open and having stayed there awhile ago I thought it was nicer than all but two hotels Downtown... but the area is BAD.

*BAD if you don't know the area or Edmonton. If I showed up to this in Vancouver it would indeed be the DTES.

Another reason why downtown Edmonton can't have nice things.

An even better idea is they should quit farting around with the Connect Center construction and get rid of the Bob and Doug coverings already!

It's been sitting idle so long that plants are starting grow in the hole.
I saw those yesterday. Looks like data and utility lines exposed in the bottom. and now they are cutting and removing the sidewalk to the east of Stantecs entrance.

Whenever the UCP government announces money and Calgary is named it always acts as a trigger for me, haha, so I may be off base.

The province just made an announcement in Calgary of $5.2 million for crime prevention grants in response to recent shootings there, and granted they've had a lot.
But we have more homicides here yearly despite a smaller population and we just had the two Chinatown murders and our council is spending money to set up increased police operations with not a word from the province. But there are shootings in Calgary and they react with this announcement. So typical.
