Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

It’s a pipe dream but I would love to see an extension/continuation of the linear park that currently exists between 109 &110st. Dream scenario would be having current parks (beaver hills, warehouse, Ezio Faraone) linked together by linear parks. Even if we could design some of these streets to make for a transition to this in the future, would be incredible

We definitely need to make our downtown streets look and feel urban and walkable and 103Ave is not it at present.
102 and 103 Ave are legacies from the 70s (60s?) when they were converted to one-way streets to facilitate the rapid movement of vehicles in and out of downtown. It killed any street life that existed there and we're still living with that legacy.

They are installing concrete curbs and jersey barriers.

I might have to head down and take a look over the next few days....

they paved both of the approach paths last night and left the bridge 'open' this morning without barricades but later this afternoon it looks like the barricades are back so not sure that the bridge is officially open. in any case the deck looks done but still has some tools and garbage sitting on it.

Barricades back on Tuesday too. Hopefully, they open it soon because the detour down to Snow Valley is horrible.

They still haven't fixed the path that has been crushed by heavy machinery. Anything similar for a vehicle detour would be unacceptable, but fair game for active transport detours, apparently.
