Capital Line LRT

They have to be close to finishing piling right? I mean they’re basically at saddleback road. Unless the underpass takes forever to get back to grade I can’t imagine they have many piles left before they switch to the north side.

Beginning on/around October 25, Ledcor will shift traffic to the east side of 111 Street (onto the new permanent roadway) between 12 Avenue and 9 Avenue. The traffic shift will occur in phases, and will allow Ledcor to begin construction of the future LRT tracks on the west side of 111 Street between 12 Avenue and 9 Avenue.
  • Phase 1 of the traffic shift will last approximately two weeks. During Phase 1, traffic on 111 Street will be reduced to one lane southbound and northbound from Blackmud Creek to approximately 9 Avenue. Turning movements will be permitted at 12 Avenue and 9 Avenue.
  • Phase 2 of the traffic shift will begin on/around November 8 and Ledcor will aim to have two lanes open, both northbound and southbound, on 111 Street until fall 2026.
During construction on the west side of 111 Street, some dedicated turning lanes, sidewalks and bus stops will be closed within the construction zone. Temporary lane closures will be communicated in separate construction notices.

Please refer to the maps below for details about the upcoming traffic shifts.

What To Expect
Traffic Impacts
  • During Phase 1, traffic on 111 Street will be reduced to one lane southbound and northbound from Blackmud Creek to approximately 9 Avenue. Turning movements will be permitted at 12 Avenue and 9 Avenue.
  • During Phase 2, two lanes will be open northbound and southbound on 111 Street. Turning movements will be permitted at 12 Avenue and 9 Avenue.
  • During Phase 1, bus stop 1790 will be closed for approximately two weeks. Please use bus stop 4105 near 12 Avenue. During Phase 2, bus stop 1790 will reopen.
  • During Phase 2, bus stop 4864 will shift to its original location near 12 Avenue.
Pedestrian Detours
  • Pedestrians and cyclists travelling north-south can use the crosswalk on the west side of 111 Street north of 9 Avenue, and the east side of 111 Street north of 12 Avenue connecting to the current Blackmud Creek pedestrian/cyclist detour.
  • East-west crosswalks at 12 and 9 Avenue will alternate closures as necessary, ensuring one remains open at all times, with proper detour signage to ensure safety around the work zone.
Other Impacts
  • Once Phase 1 begins (on/around October 25), the 111 Street access to the Esso will be permanently closed. The 9 Avenue access (south access) to the Esso will remain open during and after construction.
  • The speed limit on 111 Street approaching the work zones will be reduced to 40 km/h in both directions.
  • Efforts will be made to minimize noise, vibration and dust. Mitigation measures will be implemented to monitor and reduce these impacts.

As a regular passer-by of those two intersections (111 St & 9/12 Ave), the number of people who run red lights there is absolutely ridiculous.
I'll have to add that the number of people who run red lights at every intersection lately is getting absolutely ridiculous. I'm half tempted to check if the laws have been changed or if I've become suddenly afflicted with a highly specific colour blindness.

Yup. In addition to the 3-5 vehicles who speed through the yellow light or make a left turn, it seems that the first 5 seconds of the solid red is fair game now.

I wish there would be at least any sort of semblance of accountability.
