Capital Line LRT

A concrete-poured pedestrian detour near the 23 Ave/111 St intersection!

As someone living in Toronto, we do have the odd underpass grade separation (see Milliken station on GO Stouffville line) but it is legitimately more complex to do with the massive amounts of pumps etc needed to clear the underpass in heavy rainfall and theres an enormous amount of excavation needed, especially for a wide road. The tradeoff is it almost certainly looks nicer at the end of the day and you don't get the kind of dark dingy underside of a road underpass. I do agree that the bike / ped paths are a nice touch though. Having to bike or walk down and up or vice versa *sucks*.

Question for everyone, I see there is a MUP along the northeast Capital Line near Stadium, will that eventually be extended the entire length of this part of the Capital Line? The ROW is so massive and it seems like a good use of the space.

The MUP runs the whole length of the capital line with the exception of doing a weird detour around the underpass at Coliseum stadium. The plan is to eventually completely redo the area after the Coliseum is demolished by splitting the Coliseum station into two, one further north and one further south. Then filling in the underpass at 118 ave (which is a mess all the time) and bringing it to ground level. I am sure they will connect the MUP more directly when they rebuild it. I very much look forward to this happening, but it will be a long time before the money is available.

The MUP in the northeast runs from 95 St to 66 St. From 66 St to Clareview the ROW is narrower (only 1 set of CN track vs formerly 4 or more between 95 St and 66 St) and it is still in use. Fort Road parallels the ROW a block or so away.

They did build a MUP from 125 Ave to Fort Road, and are currently working on Fort Road from 66 St to 137 Ave, with Manning Drive from 137 Ave to 153 Ave to come next year.

I think the first part I wonder is will they commission the two stations first and then will they build a temporary bridge like CN did at fort road. Also I wonder how long would 118 Ave be closed when they fill in the area.
