The new Encore homes are coming along too — the pictures of the front were taken on March 7, but the one from the rear was taken today like the rest in this post.

It looks like the new Encore homes are a new model we haven't seen yet - does anyone have an idea what they will look like?
 
There are cycles in the financial markets and in housing markets too. Edmonton's housing market hasn't been that great over the last decade so there is a pervasive sense of no rush here, but I feel those counting on that to continue could be surprised sometime in the not so distant future. It can happen quickly without much warning, like when prices jumped here in the early 2000's. Those in the GTA that waited too long found themselves shut out.
Thats why we need cheap/affordable rent.

Most renters are on either a month to month or a one year lease, so there is really no guarantee for them after that.

Currently some new rental housing is being built and the number of new people moving here is slowing some so things will probably be ok for a while, but the market can change in the future.
