Byzantine Winter festival on 118th Ave. yesterday afternoon. It was my first time there. It was amazing! Obviously the warm weather helped, but I was impressed with all the action. Thousands of people and as much interest as to intrigue the most discerning revelers. I'm heading back shortly today to see more...

Excellent shots @Kaizen -- I hope this catches on in a permanent way for 118th Ave -- I like to use its earlier name 'Alberta Avenue'. I grew up in a house two blocks north of the Avenue theatre on 91st Street. Alberta Avenue is a neglected resource and deserves special attention. This is one of 4 fairs that I proposed to the City in 2006 through 2016. When I get back to the City I am going to try to push the others as well.

I just noticed on your 9th photo panel @Kaizen, the one with the Vietnamese restaurant in the background... Vietnamese is one of my favorite foods and we frequently eat at a local one in Ventura County... the pronunciation of Pho is roughly equivalent phonetically to fuh and now you add 'King' behind it -- and WHAT? I guess the naming censors let this one slide.

@archited , ^^ thank you. Alberta Avenue is how I will refer to 118th from now on, and I did know better! AA has progressed notibly over the past few years as has this festival, as I was told today. Their attendance was about 45,000 last year and this year looks way better. It's a day and a half long festival, that's it! I hope they look at 4 or more days in the future. Also 3 or 4 new funky businesses have opened up on the Ave, though maybe a couple are just short term "pop-up's", I don't know.
Alberta Avenue is a place to watch, and visit.

^ Pho King has been one of my favorite go to Vietnamese joints over the past few years, I had planned on stopping in today for the "Kings Special" Pho. I never did (was too busy digging my tripod out of a snow bank :) I would have spit my pho all over after reading your comment @archited, very true, fuh king good!
I highly recommend the joint for a Skyrise meetup when you are in town next, or whenever the snow melts.

I believe they still sell merchandise, and are usually very busy. It would be interesting to find out if the pronunciation of Pho King was missed or intended ! I think lots of us in North america wouldn't get it, I missed it ! More cross cultural pronunciation fun :D

I like the idea of a meetup.
