I wish a developer would work with VIA and CN Rail to tie EIA onto the CN tracks to Jasper or at the very least work with the existing CN Blatchford Station to Jasper to have several trains a day. Stop ay Edson and Hinton maybe.

Two trains a day, in the beginning, would be enough. One in the morning, maybe 8 or 9 am, one early evening, 7pm, maybe. Would probably be enough to catch people's attention and create some traction. I believe that, eventually, with the LRT coming to Heritage Valley (and likely to EIA at some point) and the Blatchford station already under construction, even if there isn't a direct rail link using the CN tracks, we'll connect the airport to the CN Blatchford station. But I agree with you that it would be great to have it, and it would possibly make it easier to have more frequency (maybe 3 or 4 times a day, early morning, late morning/early afternoon, late afternoon/early evening and late evening).

Does anyone have an idea where this project is in terms of timelines? Has City Council endorsed this project? Timelines were in the report mentioned on page 28 of the link. https://pub-edmonton.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=4754

It seems to me that there is a planning disconnect between the new Rossdale overlay (mid-to-high-rise buildings) and the proposed path of the Gondola. Planning has likely inadvertently created a physical blockade to the proposed Prairie Sky route by enabling upscale zoning in the path. Landholders in the valley realm are probably now excited to take advantage of the increased height advantages. In short, I see problems for the Gondola project.
