    Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I can't believe how many bad drivers are out there. The other day I watched as a woman struggled to pull her vehicle into a Costco (!!!) parking spot and had to rely on guidance from a group of people—jerking back and forth and slamming on her brakes each time. This woman was not trying to back...

    Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

Yeah, it's not good. Also, I wasn't a fan of the small LED strip lighting they had previously along the edges of the building, but the new lighting is barely visible. Maybe it still needs to be adjusted or played around with to get it right.

ICE District Block IJ | ?m | ?s | ICE District Prop. | Next Architecture

Capacity of about 4300 which surprised me. I know it gets used for local performances, but I can't really remember many touring acts booking here. You'd think that it could in theory be used in place of Jubilee, Winspear, and Midway during the summer months.

    Edmonton summer festivals

I know the ski club is there but I'd love to see it turned into a permanent amphitheatre capable of hosting a number of touring concerts, musicals, etc. Not sure that would go over well with the neighbourhood though.

    Miscellaneous

No, you're right, the one you posted has not started construction yet and will be directly east of one with the Co-Op. Might as well be the same though—all boring, generic parking lots and chain stores.

    Warehouse District Park

Guaranteed the person who provided these quotes A) never takes transit and B) is never downtown. The suburban and rural right-wing fear-mongers love to tell anyone who will listen how bad, scary and dangerous the city is. I see enough FB comments on my community page to know the type.

    Stationlands Residential Towers | 90m | 25s | Qualico | DIALOG

This is turning out significantly nicer than I expected. Hope they start the next phase soon.

    General Food & Dining Thread

Yeah, that location was awesome. Funny story, back in about 2013 one of the guys in my former band knew the guy trying to open the strip club in that building. We were looking for a place to rehearse and he suggested we use the basement. I spent a lot of time in there for a couple of months and...

    Warehouse District Park

Sure, that's valid. But when the park is built and we're sitting in it enjoying a summer day, it will probably be near the top of the list of the things the park could benefit from. It's just another stupid unforced error by the city.

    General Food & Dining Thread

The people who like that place seem to LOVE it. I know a few people who go there regularly. I like it, but it can be frustrating when I just want to eat—I don't need the show. lol

    Edmonton Nightlife (past and present)

I had no idea where to post this so I figured here kind of works. Does anyone know why Edmonton doesn't have ANY hotels with outdoor pools? I've thought about this in the past but was reminded about it again recently from a post on Reddit (I think) where someone asked if there were any hotels...

    Legislature Grounds / Centennial Plaza

As a father to a young daughter, I can tell you that anything with a water feature almost always wins out when choosing where to spend a day outdoors during the summer. She'll run through a sprinkler on an overcast 17 degree day.

Oh wow, a place like that opening is huge for confidence in the area. Hopefully there's more to come!

    Edmonton Corporate Development & Attraction

Oh wow, I had no idea. I thought they were still on the south side.

Intuit wasn't DT. Big loss for the city, but doesn't really affect DT.

    105 Avenue (Columbia Avenue) Streetscape | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I work near here and can confirm the area is really starting to show some promise. Excited for more, especially once MacEwan develops their surface lots behind Allard and the residence building.

    Downtown

My wife just accepted a job with the city and is PUMPED to work DT. She’ll be taking VLRT from Mill Woods and is already researching her lunch spots. We were down there on Wednesday and despite the gloomy weather and no special events/festivals, the vibes were still exactly what she’s looking...

    The Parks | 146.91m | 45s | 35s | 13s | Pangman | Hariri Pontarini

The height restriction was also responsible for the absolutely horrific design of First Edmonton Place, correct? The “street level” retail was built below grade to allow for an extra level of office space? I think I remember reading about that somewhere.

    Stantec Tower | 250.84m | 66s | ICE District Prop.

Parking?! There’s more parking available near ID than where they currently are. Especially during the winter months when you would not even need to go outside.ID is also easier to get to by transit, bike, scooter, walk and is closer to more hotels and residences (foxes, Icons, Stantec, etc.)...
