Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

There absolutely is a way out. It's very well detailed in the Project Agreement, Schedule 27. While I have no idea what is happen or not happening with TransEd being a candidate to run the VLW, I will say this: Alstom had the opportunity to negotiate a sole source contract for VLW LRV's. Well...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

If this is in response to the post regarding TransEd's future of operating the VLSE, it's worth noting I don't think any decision like that would suddenly occur during the middle of the Christmas break after one significant incident. They're probably not related. If this is just a comment in...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Sorry, this is just a bit nitpicky on my behalf. Would by TransEd not operating it also mean TransEd is longer maintaining it as well?

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Trains are running today. I assume it was regular service, although I can't be 100% sure. I did see a train that was seemingly on schedule when I stepped out of my house to look, and I have watched them on the 75 St/ Whitemud Drive traffic camera. Of course, there is a chance these were out of...

    Capital Line LRT

They do as needed during the winter. Originally it was track crews with backpack blowers and hand tools, later a CIty employee helped develop the Camelon with RPM Tech. They would send those out after regular service had ended to clear flangeways/ crossings/ embedded track...

The switch points appear to be heated. Not sure if the switch machine mechanical components are. Areas with direct fixation trackage (Muttart crossover and the OMF crossovers and entry/ exit switches) could have blowers like ETS uses to help keep turnouts clear of snow build up, but they don't.

    Capital Line LRT

Mechanically couple in an emergency probably yes, but they aren't required to be able to operate in regular service with SD's.

    Capital Line LRT

The length is enough of a difference. As per my previous reply somewhere in here an existing SD 4 car will have the equivalent carrying capacity of a 3 car Rotem. However, a 3 car SD will have higher capacity than a 2 car Rotem. And this is a bit of silly way of showing it and take it with a...

    Capital Line LRT

There is a 1965 built U1 prototype at the Frankfurt Tram museum, which was the prototype for the U2. If you're talking about Hannover 601 that the ERRS had, they repatriated it to Hannover nearly 10 years ago. It was never a U2 prototype of any sort however, and is actually newer by a few years...

    Capital Line LRT

Depends if that 40 includes the expansion cars for the SLRT and NLRT to Blatchford. NLRT alone was 6 cars. Edit: original number was 53 cars, which would be about 42- 31m cars.

    Capital Line LRT

I'd hazard a guess each car would be 30-32m long. Based on my assumption, a 4 car train would likely carry more passengers than an existing 5 car train, on account of additional passenger space from 2 less cabs, and the coupler space been 2 cars. Regular weekday consists would likely be 3 cars...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I was thinking about this yesterday. Marigold is responsible for only the infrastructure, not the vehicles or operations. It would make sense that before anyone can go testing LRV's on the VLW, Marigold is going to have to have finished all of their work and released the line to the City. This...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

In the video the reporter says "the companies goal is to start testing the tracks by next November". TransEd was testing track back by January 11, 2020. Ground breaking was April 2016, so less than 4 years from ground breaking. VLW ground breaking was May 2022, so testing by November 2026 is...

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

Well, there's good new and bad news with September and October transit ridership. At first I thought things looked pretty good for October ridership. September was 5,853,408 October was 5,369, 681. Less than 500K less in October. However. the numbers don't look as good compared to 2024 numbers...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

It is definitely real. Today I ran into the car again and got the remainder of the messages which include "Ouch!" and "That one hurt!" I also saw the Culligan truck that got hit of all things. It is the new style of International chassis which made me look close when I saw it today, and indeed...

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

The operating budget increase for the 25 growth buses was approved this afternoon. There was also a $3 million increase to the DATS budget approved, with funding from the EPCOR dividend.

2015 has a new wrap for AMA, with such messages as "Give this train a brake" and " Please don't hit me!"

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

A train with car 2022 leading to Mill Woods was involved in a a collision with a Culligan truck at 100 St. 20 minutes delay before they got things running. Trains are alternating between terminating at Churchill or 102 St. Damage is minor. Headlight panels were damaged but were able to be put...

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

ETS has a long term contract, so yes. These 25 buses should be growth buses as that was an unfunded profile that was included in the Supplemental Capital Budget Adjustment. Presumably they approved the associated operating costs. Some of the buses will go towards converting some On Demand to...
