    97 Street Bridge

If only somebody could have asked if the underpass was going to be there forever. It's a perfect example of poor planning and communication between the City and the Province. It's not like somebody had to predict something 100 years down the road. The condition of the underpass is obvious and...

An interest bearing trust might have the opposite effect of its intended goal. Instead of encouraging a project to proceed, a developer might delay a project on the grounds that they're receiving interest compensation for not doing anything. So for a developer with projects in different...

Calgary will have its new arena ready for the 2028 World Cup of hockey and hockey fans there are livid that they'll host some qualifying games while Edmonton will host the semi finals and final game. Katz evidently was willing to pony up more coin than Edwards on a bid to host the important games.

Same here. Get rid of it. It has no practical purpose. The underpass may have some sentimental value for a few people but opening that artery would have a positive impact on mobility and the social barrier that it currently represents.

City council is seeking more information about removing the long-defunct train overpass on 97th Street. The Chinatown Transformation Collaborative says the community welcomes its removal.

"That's the way it's done in Europe" is code for a project that's been screwed up.

Regarding Rocky Fucking Mountain House. I had reason to visit Sundre in the early 2010's and the intersection from Hiway 22 into Sundre was perfectly fresh blacktop. Top of the line hi-way. No expense spared on it. I drive down main street a block or two and a couple buildings to the west of...

    Massey Ferguson Building Redevelopment | ?m | 6s | Rise Real Estate | WZMH

Some building materials such as dimensional lumber and plywood / osb are less expensive in the Edmonton market than elsewhere. Reason being, commodities trade for whatever price a market will bear and Edmonton is close to mills in Grand Prairie and Slave Lake regions. In other words, the mill...

J.C. That's a lot of money. Has the UPC screwed up that badly or do they want to use the deficit as ammunition to change the transfer payment agreement relationship with Ottawa and the other provinces? Migration into Alberta didn't create those kind of deficit forecasts. Not everybody that...

It would be the honorable thing to do but I wouldn't put any money on it. They've alienated too many people.

The twinning may coincide with the initiative to develop more tourism in the province. There would be a route from the Rockies terminating in Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton. At the same time, it's MAGA country so it makes one wonder if that's the reason behind the twinning.

The price of oil is less than it was a couple years back and the provincial books aren't balanced but how is that the fault of immigrants? I'd be peeved off right now if I was encouraged to move to Alberta as an immigrant and then have the UPC's divisive political agenda laid at my feet. The...

Nexbrick could become popular. Nexbrick may not have all of the thermal properties that makes solid brick desirable but it has the appearance of solid brick without the high labour cost associated with constructing a solid brick veneer. Further, the common problem of repointing mortar is...

The civic governments of Calgary and Edmonton are not that different. The new Mayor of Calgary is a dude that grew up in a working class neighborhood and has few ties to the corporate business community in Calgary. Before him, Jodi Gondek is a tried and true liberal. Before her, Naheed Nenshi...

I'd agree with that and it could start with Whyte Ave as it's beginning to get a little rough and needs an upgrade. If something isn't done soon the dopers will begin lying on the sidewalks and setting up tents

Downtown Calgary is accessible from a variety of directions which makes it central and able to support development. Downtown Edmonton isn't as accessible or central which makes it less desirable for people working outside of the core or for visitors.
